Michael Jackson is selling off more than 2,000 items from his Neverland ranch at a five-day public auction.

Personal belongings, costumes, furniture and art are among the items going under the hammer at Los Angeles' Beverly Hilton hotel in April.

A signed oil-painting of Jackson dressed as a king, valued between £2,800 and £4,200 is being offered for sale, alongside a golf cart featuring the singer depicted as Peter Pan, expected to fetch up to £4,200.

Jackson's sequinned jacket he wore for the 1984 Hollywood Walk of Fame star ceremony is also on offer, valued at £10,000 to £15,000, as well as a set of his signature Swarovski crystal gloves, including the iconic white glove from his Billie Jean video, valued at around £4,500 and a robotic Michael Jackson head from his 1988 film Moonwalker, expected to fetch up to £2,400.

The vast auction has filled a six-volume book detailing every lot and US TV channel the Auction Network are set to broadcast the auction live both on national TV and the internet.

Such interest is expected in the auction, some of the items are going on tour to London and Dublin before the sale.

Darren Julien, the auctioneer in charge of the sale, told The Daily Telegraph: "He has never had an auction.

"We have been working closely with him for five months and he is in complete control of this."

Jackson, 50, has had financial troubles in recent years but Julien insisted "This is something that Michael is doing of his own free will. He is not being forced into it."
