Scientists claims, that if you sit for longer period of time and even if you regularly exercise, it can be harmful for your body. And it doesn't depend on where you sit - if in the office, in the school, in the car or in front of TV or computer - the only thing that matters is the amount of time, which will eventually add during the day
Those are only speculations, that need to be checked, but there are many researches, that people who spent most of the time sitting are more likely to be obese, have an heart attack or even die due to this fact.
In editorial, which has been published this week by British Journal of Sports Medicine, Elin Ekblom-Bak from Swedish school of sport and medical science gives an advice to those specialist of health to think over how they define physical activity to point at danger of sitting.
While medics published many advices, which lays down minimal amount of physical activity, they don't tell anything about how much time we can sit.
"After four hours of sitting the body produces harmful signals" tells Ekblom-Bak. She explains that after this time the genes that reduces amount of glucose are "turned off".
Even for people who regularly exercise the long time spent sitting is harmful. Tim Armstrong, expert on physical activity in World Health Organization (WHO) says, that people who exercised every day but also spent huge amount of time sitting should their training spread all through the day to reduce the danger form sitting
