It happens often that we tend to slow down at intersections where lights almost always turn red just before you hit the gas pedal. It's like some traffic-conspiracy to make you stop at as many lights as possible. Well thankfully Audi's new Travolution system will be of help, and will finally lay to rest all conspiracy theories. The system works such, that as you reach within a certain range before the traffic light, sensors from the light communicate with the car, telling it whether the light will possible switch colors (i.e. turn red from green or vice versa) as you approach the intersection. This in turn will let the driver know of the situation, enabling him to judge before hand, if he needs to hit the brakes or speed ahead. The Travolution, system is being tried out at the company's hometown of Ingostadt, Germany. Audi says that this system will streamline traffic flow, increase gas mileage, and reduce emissions. An additional twenty A5 and A6 Avant models are being added to the fleet of cars with the technology, and fifty more stoplights will be fitted with modules in Inglostadt.
